Eileen Brookes (Chair)
Eileen trained as a primary school art teacher in London at Philippa Fawcett College of Education and Camberwell School of Art, where she studied graphic design and printmaking. She taught in London and Leicester. Eileen enjoys working in mixed media for landscape, still life and the figure, but always returns to pastel and charcoal as her first choice. She finds inspiration in the English landscape and in the commonplace objects that surround us. Light and shadow and strong contrasting colours often spark an idea for a painting. She begins with preliminary sketches and perhaps some photographs for painting in the studio but working outside is always preferable. Eileen is also a member of UpstARTs, a small art group based in Leicester. |
